Green Fact
Switching from a typical omnivorous diet to a plant-rich one (one high in grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables) at age 20 can increase life expectancy by over a decade in both men and women. Making the change at age 60 can add eight years to a person’s life expectancy.
It’s never too early—or too late—for food choices to make a difference. Chocolate chip cookies may not be the life-extending part of the equation, but enjoying homemade treats can still fit within an overall plant-rich eating pattern.
