HelloFresh
Welcome to my honest review of HelloFresh! See the pros and cons of my experience as well as my overall verdict below.
The pros
The ordering process was easy. I could view meal options, make changes, skip weeks, and unsubscribe without any problems.
My deliveries came on time and early in the day. I liked that my boxes came in the morning because it meant I could have one of my meals for lunch!
Everything in my meal boxes was in great condition. The produce was fresh, and all ingredients came neatly packaged.
Almost no food waste. Because the boxes come with all the ingredients you need, proportioned to your meal size, nothing gets wasted.
The recipes were relatively easy to follow. I’ll admit that at some points, I had to do a bit of winging it, but all my meals turned out well.
The food was yummy. No complaints, none at all.
It was a great way to try things I wouldn’t normally make.
It helped me improve my cooking skills and gain some inspo for future recipes. The meals were often more complex than my usual, so it was a fun way to improve.
The cons
The website won’t let you view the offered meals until you give your credit card information. This is annoying.
A bit expensive. Three meals with four servings each cost around $130 (including shipping).
Lots of single-use plastic waste. Because each ingredient comes individually packaged, this creates a lot of garbage.
The vinegar leaked pretty often. This happened three out of the four times.
Overall
You’ll see that I’ve listed more pros than cons. That’s because Hello Fresh was good. It was yummy and fun, and I had a good experience. However, I don’t think I’d do it again. The amount of plastic wasted with each meal was just way too much for me; as someone trying to advocate for the planet, I felt pretty guilty throwing away all the packaging.
